Le Havre: two hours away from Paris, this destination is at the heart of
Normandy and of the “Baie de Seine”, is an ambitious city opened up on to
the world and the sea and a pleasant place to live.
Main features of the city
Le Havre, listed as World Heritage site, fascinates people by its oceanic
beauty. It combines all the attractions of a modern city, with the dynamism of a large European port, commercial port and port of call for cruise ships.
Le Havre, “City of Art and History”, is the birthplace of impressionism. The
Malraux Museum, opened up on to the sea, shelters the 1st collection of impressionist paintings of France outside Paris. Some other outstanding, new or recently renovated museums are the proof that the city is full of cultural treasures.
Seaside and watersports resort, it has a privileged relationship with the sea. The fitted-out beach and the marina are situated right next to the city centre.
Le Havre is a city on the move! Every two years the Jacques Vabre transatlantic race leaves from the harbour. A contemporary art biennial event, a summer festival on the beach and many other events are organized all year round.

The first French port for containers and the 5th North-European port for tonnage; the Port of Le Havre covers an area of about 10 000 hectares and generates 16 000 direct jobs. Its industrial port area welcomes first class industries in the fields of petrochemistry, motor industry, aeronautics…
